Canadian poker rooms rarely headline data stories. The usual suspects are Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and South Florida. This time the numbers tell a different story.

Toronto Was the Epicenter

Great Canadian Casino Resort Toronto alone triggered surges in six separate game types: $1/3 NLH, $2/5 NLH (MTS), $5/10 NLH, 5/10 NLH (MTS), $10/20 NLH, and $5/10 PLO. The $5/10 NLH list hit 9 names against a median of 1, a 9× ratio that marked the single sharpest spike of the night. At $10/20 NLH, six players waited with zero tables open, a 6× ratio at a stake that rarely generates a list at all.

Zero open tables appeared repeatedly across the Toronto data. The $2/5, $5/10, and $10/20 NLH games all showed waitlists building with no tables running yet, suggesting demand materialized faster than the room could seat it.

Playground Stacked Deep

Playground Poker Club in Kahnawake posted surges across six game types of its own. The $1/3 NLH list reached 17 names against a median of 3 (roughly 5.7×), while two tables ran. PLO5 variants surged too: the $2/2 PLO5 list hit 13 (4.3× median) and $2/5 PLO5 reached 13 (3.25× median). Even the $5/10 NLH list climbed to 10 against a median of 3.

Playground's breadth is notable. Six surging game types at a single club signals genuine volume, not a one-off anomaly in a niche game.

Alberta and British Columbia Joined In

Two Edmonton rooms, Pure Casino Edmonton and Pure Casino Yellowhead, both surged. Pure Casino Edmonton's $1/3 list hit 6 against a median of 1 (6× ratio). Pure Casino Yellowhead's PPP CASH list reached 9 against a median of 4.5.

Parq Vancouver rounded out the west coast at 3× its median on $2-$5-$10 NLH, with 9 names waiting and zero tables open.

Why It Matters

Four provinces surging in a single overnight window is unusual. Canadian rooms are spread across multiple time zones (ET, CT, PT), which makes synchronized demand harder to produce. A Victoria Day long weekend (observed Monday, May 19) likely contributed. Sunday night before a statutory holiday means no Monday alarm for most Canadian players.
