William Baldwin's $2,676 and the Final Table That Is the WSOP
The $400 Daily Deepstack final table features a chip leader with less lifetime earnings than most players spend on food during the series.

William Baldwin has $2,676 in lifetime tournament earnings, and he just made a WSOP final table.
Not $2,676 today. Total. Across his entire recorded career. That number is about to change significantly, because Baldwin is sitting at the final table of WSOP Event #309, the $400 Daily Deepstack No-Limit Hold'em, as the leader among seven remaining players at Horseshoe Las Vegas.
Baldwin's entire lifetime earnings wouldn't cover a single bullet in the $10K Heads-Up Championship happening two hallways over.
The Table That Poker Twitter Ignores
The high-roller corridor gets the streams, the tweets, the breathless hand breakdowns. Meanwhile, over in the $400 daily, a guy whose Hendon page reads like a rounding error is running over a final table that includes Manish Madan, a WSOP Circuit ring winner with $215,268 in lifetime cashes and five final tables. Madan is the most credentialed player left, and he's not the one setting the pace.
Also still alive: Whiskey Dave. No recorded lifetime earnings. No bracelets, no rings, no Hendon trail at all. Just a name that belongs on a bourbon label and a stack that got him to a final table at the World Series of Poker. Christopher May ($3,010 lifetime) and Rodnei Meirelles from Brazil round out a group where the combined tournament résumé of six of seven players wouldn't fill a single paragraph.
Some will argue this is just a $400 daily, that nobody's tracking it, that the real stories are in the championship events. Sure. And the $400 daily is the reason 90% of the people in that building flew to Las Vegas in the first place.
This Is the Pitch
The WSOP sells one promise above all others: show up with a buy-in and you have a shot. Not a theoretical shot. Not an inspirational-poster shot. A real one, with real money, at a real final table, in a real casino, with your name on a real leaderboard.
William Baldwin, $2,676 lifetime, is the proof. So is Whiskey Dave, whoever he is.
The $50K Players Championship will crown a brilliant player. This final table will crown an unforgettable one.
