Minjoo Cho Leads The Closer With 24 Left

Minjoo Cho, a South Korean player with $39,518 in lifetime tournament earnings, holds 13.975 million chips and the lead as WSOP Event #93, the $1,500 Closer, plays down to 24 remaining.

Cho has zero bracelets and zero Circuit rings entering the event. A final-table appearance — or a win — would multiply his recorded career earnings several times over.

Among notable eliminations on the final day: Kevin Eyster, a one-time bracelet winner with five WSOPC rings and $5.24 million in lifetime cashes, busted in 27th place. Matthew Salsberg, a Canadian with one Circuit ring, 14 career final tables, and $2.36 million in earnings, also fell short of the final push. Jose Escalona Gaona of Mexico and Young Eum of the United States were eliminated in the same stretch.

The $1,500 Closer is traditionally the last open-entry bracelet event on the WSOP summer schedule. Play continues at the Horseshoe and Paris in Las Vegas as the field works toward a nine-handed final table.
